Bremens Sokratis on his way to Dortmund?

Marty_WPAccording to German Kicker Werder Bremen’s central back Sokratis (24 years old) is on his way to Dortmund. He should have declined Bayer Leverkusen and reached an agreement with our BVB. Leverkusen offered 8 million Euro so far, Werder Bremen want to have a minimum of 10 million Euros. Sokratis played 59 times for the national team of Greece and has an average for the last season of 3.40 after 3.03 in the season before. I guess Sokratis should replace Lukasz Piszczek who will be out of action for probably 5 month next season due to hip injury.

New Bavarian star can’t play – that raises the question Grosskreutz or Sahin?

Marty_WPSince today it’s clear that new Bavarian star Mario Götze can’t play at Wembley. Well that’s quite ok and it raises the question who should replace him. I think we have two main options:

1) Weidenfeller                                      2) Weidenfeller

Pizczek-Subotic-Hummels-Schmelzer      Pizczek-Subotic-Hummels-Schmelzer

Bender-Gündogan                                    Bender-Sahin

Kuba-Reus-Großkreutz                            Kuba-Gündogan-Reus

Lewandowski                                           Lewandowsk

Option 1) is more defense orientated. Kevin will run and fight for his life. He will be Robbens nightmare as always and give Marcel Schmelzer more secureness and support.. On the other hand we need a Kevin Grosskreutz who is one the top of his game to get our fast counterattacks done on a level, that get Bayern in hot water. Another important question is if we are able to put enough pressure on Bayerns central midfielder Martinez and Schweinsteiger with this formation. It’s a key role for Marco Reus, if he plays with Kuba and Kevin.

Option 2) is more offensive orientated. With Sahin we have another player who can help with our game opening. Bayern is pressing hard and it’s better to have Hummels, Gündogan and Sahin to open our game. That give us more flexibility. With Gündogan, Sahin, Reus, Kuba and Lewandowski we have more options to play our counterattacks on a high level. Additionally Ilkay Gündogan can press better on Martinez and Schweinsteiger as Reus. Sahin is a dead ball specialist that could help a lot in such a final. On the other hand we could have some more problems with our defense because Nuri isn’t as hard-running as Grosskreutz. That could bring us in more trouble when I think about Robben.

In both options we have to make our most hard-running game as possible and press high to prevent Bayern from their typical game opening and pass play. If we manage that and play one or two successful counterattacks, we will win. Period. On a good day we can make it. Come on Borussia.

It’s tricky and I am deep relaxed. Jürgen Klopp will make the right decisions. He knows so much better than I do!

By the way I haven’t mentioned Kehl, because he wasn’t on his best form in the last matches and did to many bad passes. That could be fatal against Bayern.

What do you think?

Should Mario Götze play against Bayern, or shouldn’t he?

Marty_WPOn condition that Mario Götze will be ready and fit until Saturday he will increase our quality. Whether we will have more chances to win with Götze is questionable. There will be massive pressure on him. He will play against his new employer and all people, really all of them, will keep tabs on him. Already in his last matches during his negotiations with Bayern and around his final decision he didn’t play his best football. If he is able to slip off all the pressure and be fully motivated to play against his new club, Mario Götze will increase our chances.

Is that what I really want?

If I were Matthias Sammer who believes that everything has to unconditionally submitted to success, I would say yes. Fortunately I am not Matthias Sammer. I am a fan of Borussia Dortmund since 1984. And I love this club because of its fans, emotions, city and tradition. Additionally I am delighted with the way our team plays football for the last four years – full of passion. That’s distinguishes me from all those Bayern fans in the Ruhr area, who are fans because of Bayern titles. – By the way, I will never understand why some people, who were born in our Ruhr area with so many good clubs around, could be Bayern München fans as of this writing. If I would have nothing more than success, I would like to see fit and motivated Mario Götze in the starting lineup.

Hm, I want our emotions, the „true love“ even when football today is almost exclusively business. We at Dortmund still kept a little piece of „true love“ and emotions. Yes, of course I want us to beat Bayern. This would be great and I would run naked on the streets, but not at any price.

Therefore I would like to see a player like Kevin Großkreutz on the pitch instead of new Bavarian star Mario Götze. Why souldn’t we win with kevin instead of Götze? However, Mario Götze had to stop training in the afternoon due to his injury. Maybe there will be no option on Saturday.

Just one more thing: I will celebrate our team regardless of whether we will win or not. Borussia played an outstanding Champions-league season. We should be very proud of the team. We are more than success, we are emotions. A blueprint for many clubs in the meantime. I have never read or heard about a club who wants to copy Bayern München, do you have?

Lukasz Piszczek, my hero of this season, will undergo an operation after CL final

Marty_WPAccording to Polish onet.sport Lukasz will undergo an operation after CL final. He has to be sidelined for 4 month! He also has canceled the next 2 national matches against Liechtenstein and Moldavia. Lukasz Piszczek has a lot of problems with his hip since several month and could only play with painkillers. Nevertheless he does everything for our team on such a high level. That’s why he is my hero of this season. Looks like we have to start with Kevin as a wing back next season. Get well soon Lukasz and before that score against  Bayern!

Nicola Rizzoli will referee at Wembley – another good omen

Marty_WPNicola Rizzoli from Bologna will referee the Champions-League final at Wembley. He is 41 years old AND refereed two Bayern Champions-League matches in the past. On April 7th 2010 he refereed the quarterfinal between Manchester United and Bayern at Old Trafford. Bayern lost 3:2. In 2012 he refereed the Bayern match against Basel. Bayern lost 0:1. He never had our Borussia in a match. And just one thing more….another Italian referee, Pierluigi Colina refereed the Champions-League final between Manchester United and Bayern in 1999.. ;-)
