Just one more thing – History repeats

Marty_WP

It’s really scary and I would like to share it. In 1997 when we won Champions-League for the first time….

  • we lost our last Bundesliga match that season 1:2
  • a player of Leverkusen (Kirsten) was the best goal-scorer of the season
  • Fortuna Düsseldorf was relegated down to 2. Bundesliga
  • Bayern München won Bundesliga championship
  • Bayern played in DFB-Cup final against Stuttgart
  • Hertha was promoted to Bundesliga
  • Manchester United von Premier-League championship

Jürgen Klopp had a master plan. We played bat at Wolfsburg, worse against Hoffenheim. Next week every media will talk about big Bayern giants and Dortmund losers. Everybody, except for BVB and BVB fans, will only discuss how many goals Bayern will score against us. But all that is part of our master plan, Mats will play, our team will run and fight like hell, play on the highest possible level and finally WIN.

Yes, of course, I know. That are crazy ideas ;-) .

But NOW I’ll sleep much better. Cheers! See you guys!

Screwed-up day! Lost vs Hoffenheim, Santana to Schalke and Hummels injured

Marty_WPWhat a srewed-up day! We lost our last home fixture against a bad and boring playing Hoffenheim, We did it even worse! Hummels got injured and is doubtful for next Saturday.

Hoffenheim has now a chance to stay in Bundesliga next season if they could win the relegation matches against Kaiserslautern.

AND there is more to it than that! Schalke coach Keller confirmed that our Felipe Santana had signed at Schalke! Sorry Felipe, you scored against Malaga but this just isn’t on. Götze to Bayern and Santana to Schalke. I truly can understand when a player like Santana wants to play more often. That’s ok. Felipe please tell me why you signed at Schalke? Several clubs had been interested and you go to Sch..??? Sorry guys, but I don’t really fancy writing more today.

Preview: Borussia Dortmund vs. Hoffenheim matchday 34

Marty_WPReferee

Referee is Dr. Drees from Münster-Sarmsheim. He is 43 years old and referred our home victory against Fürth (3:1). He made 12 Bundesliga matches so far and handed out 1 red, 34 yellow cards. He has an excellent average grade of 2,64. By the way he referred Hoffenheim at Frankfurt and at Nürnberg this season. Hoffenheim lost both.

TSG Hoffenheim

Hoffenheims coach Gisdol said: „I think BVB will play with his best starting lineup and Dortmund’s players will perform as best they can to make sure that all will be part in the starting lineup for the Champions-League final.“ Furthermore he explained: “Dortmund play against the ball very early and press hard. There we couldn’t play one single inconsiderate cross pass, otherwise we are getting into trouble. During the match we won’t get many chances, but with the few chances we have to be focused. We should have a good defense and wait patiently for a counterattack. You’ll only have a chance at Dortmund, if everything comes together.“

Hoffenheims player vestergaard told: “I repect Dortmund’s good players, but the joy of the match in front of 80.000 fans overweight.“

Predicted starting lineup: Casteels – Beck, Abraham, Vestergaard, Johnson – Rudy, Polanski – Sahilovic – Schipplock, Firmino, Volland

Borussia Dortmund

At todays press conference Jürgen Klopp said: “It’s our last home match of the season and of course we want to win, no question. I’ve seen the table and I know what’s at stake for Hoffenheim and they have more to play for than us, but we want to pick up our rhythm. We want to end on a high. If we win, then we can go into the final with a completely different mindset. On the other hand this one is a Bundesliga game, the other one is a final and will be approached with even more intent.“ He explained that it is important to come back to our normal rhythm after we had some problems last week at Wolfsburg. “The referee will be a key figure after all that has been said after the last game at Hoffenheim,” told Klopp furthermore,”not to solve problems accumulated over a whole year by playing rough,” asking the players to “stick to the rules” and play “hard but fair.” Apart from Mario Götze who will be back in training next week all of our players are fit.

Predicted starting lineup: Weidenfeller – Schmelzer, Hummels, Subotic, Piszczek – Bender, Sahin – Kuba, Gündogan, Reus – Lewandowski

Own preview

The last two weeks our team had a lot of very hard training sessions. That is very unusual at the end of a season and this could be one reason for our bad last match at Wolfsburg. I am sure Jürgen Klopp has something very special in mind for Wembley. This kind of training is part of it. For this Saturday I again have only one wish, NO INJURIES. We will win 3:1.

UEFA media-day at Dortmund – Some remarkable statements

Marty_WPToday we had UEFA media-day with several press conferences at Dortmund. I would like to share the most remarkable statements from my perspective. To come straight to the point: Nothing was said about transfers and new players. I guess our club won’t do that before the Champions-League final next week and that’s quite impressive.

There had been 160 journalists and 32 TV teams at our press room. They asked their question and here are some answers/statements of Jürgen Klopp, Sebastian Kehl, Roman Weidenfeller. Ilkay Gündogan and Mats Hummels.

JÜRGEN KLOPP:

„Although football is a business, the designation ‘Der Pöhler’, which is on the cap I wear very often, fits perfectly to my team. In the Dortmund area ‘Der Pöhler’ describes the passion for football better than everything else. That’s one reason I like to wear this cap.“

„Mario Götze is still in plan and starts training with the team at the beginning of next week.“

„Actually this young team had become Bundesliga champion too early, they became double-winner to early and now they are in the Champions-League final too early. It’s a kind of fairytale.“

„Lukasz Piszczek plays the most outstanding season. When you thing about the special circumstances, his injury, I am not aware of many players who could do that on such a high level like Lukasz. All three of our polish players play such a good season because they are very good football players and because they benefit from the overall performance of our team as all the other players do. All our three polish player are some of the best ambassadors of their country.“

„With the final our way is not over now. After the final we have to accept the new conditions, that are a result of this final, use them right and continue our progression.“

„To achieve something you have to be ready to dream big and think big. Even if your plunge could be harder afterwards.“

„Bayern are self-confident and feel safe. We don’t think that we could win for no reason, we think we have the chance to win. That’ll have to do.“

„In football everything is possible and we will fight as much as we can for this opportunity.“

„We want to make our parents proud….and if we will win, we are not the best team in the world, but then we beat the maybe the best team of the world.“

„When the match starts, every one of my players will know that everything is possible today. How we will deal with this we will see…“

SEBASTIAN KEHL

„I always thought that this club has a tremendous power from inside to get it done to become one of the best clubs from an economic and sportive perspective. This town lives football. That was the reason I stayed here since in 2005, 2006. Of course I never thought about that big success of the past three years. I believe that Borussia have the power to become the second lighthouse in Germany and I am happy to be part of this development“

ROMAN WEIDENFELLER

„I don’t think our coach would train kicking penalties next week but I can imagine to take a penalty-kick myself, if necessary.“

ILKAY GÜNDOGAN

If Mario could not play, I am able to play as a 10. I did it for years in my youth and I think that I can make it.“

„Our coach told me that Nuri came back before it was officially announced. I didn’t planned on that, it motivated me to improve my performance, the quality of our players got better and as a result I made the next step. However I am really happy that Nuri is back. In the last matches you could see how much he could help our team and he will do that more maybe in the final and next season. We could play very good together in one team at the same time.”

MATS HUMMELS

“It is the complete wrong approach to play the final to screw up Bayerns season. We have the approach and chance to win the most wanted championship in football, that’s our motivation.“

Why we could have a different formation next season…

Marty_WPIn an interview two days ago our coach Jürgen Klopp said that next season we want to concede dramatically fewer goals as this season. Aditionally he explained that we will improve our play against the ball and have less dominant ball possession. If you take this statements into account, look at the players who were linked to us at the moment and assume that Götze and Lewandowski will leave the club than we could play a 4-3-3 formation as a basis next season:

Weidenfeller (Langerak)

Piszczek (Großkreutz) Hummels (Günter) Subotic (Santana or ?) Schmelzer (?)

Sahin (Eriksen) Bender (Kehl) Gündogan (Leitner)

Kuba (deBruyne)  Benteke (Martinez) Reus (Bernard)

This formation is very flexible and more unpredictable. We could play a 4-3-3, a 3-4-3, a 3-3-4, a 4-3-2-1…. Nowadays a formation changes during the matches. The formation itself is not as interesting as many people think. It’s more a basis for different varieties that depend on the types of players and philosophy of the coach. With a 4-3-3 we can play higher against the ball, are more compact in the middle and could play more offensive down the wings when we win the ball.

Formation above looks very competitive! ;-)

I find it exiting to discuss new formations now and then. Especially when some new players will sign a club.

What do you think about it?

Eriksen and Bernard close to an agreement with Borussia?

There are two new articles about Bernard and Eriksen. One is from Volgens Valentijn Driessen, chef sport of de Telegraaf:

“Deal Eriksen will be fixed in two weeks”

The Brazilian magazine Super FC talked with Bernard’s mother about plans to move to Dortmund.

Familiares de Bernard já planejam mudança para a Alemanha

Exciting.

Leonard Bittencourt is linked to Hannover

Marty_WPToday some German media and blogger told that our young player Leonard Bittencourt is linked to Hannover 96. During our match at Wolfsburg last Saturday he should have said that he is still in good talks with Hannover about a switch. There are some rumours that it could be more than a loan deal. Reportedly they have talked about a trade. Leonardo explained that he would like to get much more match practise next season and it could be difficult at Dortmund to get some. This season he came in 5 times.

If you ask me, I wouldn’t trade him. He made a good impression in the 5 matches he played and has the potential to really help us in two years after he improved somewhere else. I would recommend a loan.
