BVB starting line up: Weidenfeller – Piszczek, Subotic, Santana, Schmelzer – Leitner, Gündogan, Perisic, Kuba, Reus – Lewandowski
Substitutes: Götze (replaced Reus 65’), Schieber (replaced Lewandowski 69’), Grosskreutz (replaced Kuba 85’’)
20.000 spectators, mostly BVB fans, watched a good match with 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) on the pitch. We played in a 4-2-3-1 formation and often changed to a 3-5-2 system. As expected we progressed to the second round of the German Cup versus fourth-tier team FC Oberneuland, a suburb of Bremen. Marco Reus (10’), Kuba (38’) and Ivan Perisic (66’) scored for our Borussia’s 3-0 win. We had several good chances and to tell the truth it was not hard to win. The first team of Werder Bremen, our opponent in next weeks season opener, on Friday, 24th of August, at Westfalenstadion joined the match live at Weser-Stadion. They could watch live how good Reus and Lewandowski fit together. Hope we see both playing together more than only one year in BVB jerseys.
Now the countdown has started.
Six more days to go until our first Bundesliga match. I’ll keep you informed as last season. I am really looking forward to Friday now!
