Today I want to share some statements that Marco Reus made in an interview on Sky, I watched last Friday.
“It’s too bad that Mario switches, but it’s his decision and we have to accept it. You can argue about which club he has chosen, but everyone has its own ideas to improve their careers.”
“Mario told me about the switch some days before. We are friends and talk about a couple of things, even about private aspects, that is rarely in football business today, but in our whole team this is different. We are on very good terms with each other and do a lot together.”
“Mario was one reason I switched to Dortmund, because I wanted to play together with him on the pitch. I tried to persuade him to stay and talked about all the positive aspects here at Dortmund. At the end it is his decision and I only can give him some advice. We all have to respect that.”
“We have a good chance to beat Bayern at Wembley. We are the team who know how to beat them and we did it in the recent past. Of course Bayern plays an outstanding season, but at Wembley we have the chance to do it.”
“If I would have no limits and could spend as much money for a player as I want, I would bring Mario back.”
After Mats Hummels, the next remarkable and very important interview! It seems as if Mario Götze’s switch to Bayern has shocked the team more than we all know. When you listen carefully to all these interviews with our players, it seems to be a very critical situation at the moment. After Shinji left us last season, now we lose Mario Götze and probably Robert Lewandowski. For players like Hummels, Reus, Gündogan, Subotic, Sahin, Kuba, Piszczek, Schmelzer and Bender will it be crucial to see what our coach and management does to close this gaps. It’s so important to sign the best replacements we could make. We have to show our players that Borussia will continue its way to give them faith to stay. We don’t have to underestimate the psychological aspect of Götze’s switch. He was one of the cornerstones of our plans for the next years. I truly believe Bayern knows about that. Hopefully we will beat them at Wembley!
